Stick Figure Sound is a New York City based music production start-up, associated with Portland, Oregon based Mandala Media. Our current music production projects involve artist development, songwriting, and vintage audio electronics. We are located in Midtown Manhatten about one block from Penn Station.
About the position:
Internship responsibilities and job activities include:
• Assistance in the development of presentations for investors and partners
• Assistance in the implementation of marketing strategies
• Internet research of artists and other industry professionals
• Graphic design
• Webpage editing
• Data input, filing, and creation of correspondence
• Running errands in Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs
Intern will have the opportunity to assist in driving the entrepreneurial spirit of our company, and is invited to observe meetings with clients, artists, and investors. Intern will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with industry professionals including artists, vendors, producers, and engineers.
We are looking to fill a 4-5 day week, non-paid position. In exchange we are able to offer college credit and will cover some travel expenses. Internship candidates must be willing to make a 3 month commitment. Further employment is not guaranteed, however there is room for growth as a member of our team.
We work on "musician-standard-time", so office hours are rarely 9-5. Our workday usually starts around noon, and goes into the early evening. Some workdays may be 3 hours long, while others may be 10 hours long. The pay off is that though we work hard, we sleep in. While this position requires some administrative tasks, it is mostly hands-on. Many of the administrative duties could potentially be achieved on a telecommuting basis.
